Feline Society of Malaysia Suspended??
On October 20th, 2008, the President of Feline Society of Malaysia had publicly announced that (at the CFA Asia / Latin-America Yahoo list) that the notable club in Malaysia, which had close to 20 years of history in existence, Feline Society of Malaysia or FSM in short, had been TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED !!!!
As a member of Feline Society of Malaysia, I expressed my shock, disappointment as well as some questions raised due to the shocking announcement.
1. Why the members of FSM were not informed first and the President had decided to went to public and announce this dreadful news knowing the fact that not all members have accessed to the CFA Asia / Latin-America Yahoo list. In my opinion, this is blatantly rude and no respect at all to FSM members.
2. Her committee had taken over as office bearers since 27th May 2007 and she had blamed the previous committee that they did not file in club accounts and reports since 2003 to our local Registrar of Society (ROS). Didn’t the current committee had checked with ROS when they take over? Why wait till now (after close to 1 and a half year) started to point fingers at the previous committee?
3. This committee was given the trust and mandate by the members to uphold the constitutions of the club and to carry out the activities of the society to the best of their ability but sad to say that they did nothing to ensure the existence of this 18 years old club, but instead they were too busy picking on individuals, mending other people’s fences while ignoring their own, what other clubs and a Sendirian Berhad (Private Limited) company are doing (one can read at the infamous Malaysia Cat Forum and the Official Statement which was released by them somewhere April this year respectively) and not forgetting actively show their cats chasing titles and points ever since they were office bearers.
Question now is did they do any sort of society work as depicted in the FSM Constitution - Section 2 : Aims and Objects that depicts;
2. AIMS AND OBJECTS
a) To safeguard the well being of all cats in general, the promotion of the correct standard required for all registered breeds and to discourage indiscriminate breeding.
b) To assist members through the dissemination of information concerning all breeds on the register of the Society.
c) To establish and maintain a register of cats in accordance with rules laid down by the General Committee from time to time and to issue Certificates of Registration
d) To promote shows and exhibitions with the power to offer trophies and/or monetory competitions at such shows.
e) To invest, control and dispose of the funds of the Society as considered by the General Committee to be in the best interest of the society.
f) To affiliate with any clubs having similar interest to that of the Society, be they local or international, as determined and decided by the General Committee, from time to time.
g) To gain admission and recognition as a member of any international and/or worldwide cat registration organizations as determined and decided by the General Committee from time to time.
h) To make by-laws for the management of cat shows
i) To promote the interest of breeders of cats, exhibitors of cats and any other persons having interest in cats
i) To establish and promote the ‘Malaysiana’ breed as a pedigree to be recognized by any international and/or worldwide cat registration organization.
4. Didn’t the current Treasurer (which is also the previous term’s Vice President) did not know anything about this when he was the Vice President for 2 years???? Isn’t that a direct accusation of the current President to her Treasurer for not doing his job as well ????
Shame on you!!! You all have BETRAYED OUR TRUST !!!
If reports and minutes were not submit to our ROS, then the present committee had proceeded in doing things unlawfully and unconstitutionly, such as raising the Membership Fee, changing the Official Address of the society without informing ROS etc. In order words, if they themselves had not filed in as office bearers for FSM, then all shows held by them since 27th May 2007 will be considered UNLAWFUL ??? I must say that a shameful act of betrayal to more than 1000 members.
To be honest, I blame no one but the present committee for the downfall of FSM and the 9 years affiliation and good rapport that we have had with The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) and close to 20 years of existance in Malaysia. If it is during the Vikings, their heads will be on the chopping block for the downfall of a community and betrayal.
I agree with your comments and have many of the same questions. In fact, someone from the previous club committee told me last year that this might happen because of the new committee not submitting the proper reports, so I had been expecting it. I don’t think the previous committee can be blamed if in fact the new committee knew the facts. I don’t think the old committee would want to sink the club purposely either. Why would they want to do that? I don’t understand fully, and hope that a new club can be installed in place of the old one, and all bygones be forgotten.

I agree on the points with you as I, too believed that the previous committee would not want to see FSM being close down but the fact is what did the current committee had done and had not done. That is the question!!!
No new clubs could ever replace FSM!! I will find out more about this…

I had never denied that I was the Secretary elected (so to speak since I am the only contender for the post during our last AGM). What I had contributed for the past 6 months when I hold the post before I tendered my resignation on 28th November 2007, obviously the current committee will ignore my services but that is ok.
I did filed all necessary documents to our local ROS but it was rejected because the accounts submitted were too vague and they need a detailed account which I had reverted back to the President and the committee. From there, an ordinary committee member had suggested to engage an external auditor to audit the club’s account but until the day I’d resigned, I had not seen the audit report and it had came to my attention, the audit report did came back way after I had resigned. Did the current Secretary follow up with ROS from that time, that is the question!
I had done what I need to be done and when I resigned, the President herself had accepted my resignation and a new Secretary had been elected (which is Arisham of course). Therefore, the new Secretary should continue whatever that is outstanding. Why wait until 10-11 months later and start to accuse me of the things that is not suppose to be done?
Arisham did contacted me for FSM documents after I had resigned through Yahoo Messenger which I had told him that I had hand over all documents to the President during a post mortem meeting (so to speak) for MyCats07 show in which I do not have any more documents with me. Why does he still lingering with that question again after 10-11 months later? Do you need a warrant to check my premise for any FSM records?
Aisham had publicly accused me at the CFA Yahoo List for being a coward and I had resigned because I could not take up the burden or I had planned to finger-point to others. (I will consult my attorney about this for further action!!!)
I resigned as Secretary because I had no confidence with the leadership of the President herself and I had so much more to offer my services instead of running shows which benefited certain individuals in the end anyway.
When ROS had sent letters to the previous committee’s old address, why I am to be blamed? Isn’t that the current Secretary role to ensure all correspondence to revert to whatever new address the committee wants?
Looks like there will be another Official Statement after all. Will wait and see…

Of course one must be proud of what he / she had done in both professionally and ethically.
Sometimes, it can be unfortunate to those who take it negatively but as I said, as long as you do it professionally and ethically, whatever others say does not matter.
I mean if someone wanted to show off his / her 30 over rossettes that were won in a show but start to bicker about another person who bragged about his / her cat wins in a show, so be it…

When are they going to announce the suspension to members? If they could sent letters to inform of a show or install an elephant size petition on their ugly website,I believe that they should have the courtesy to let members know what’s going on with the club and it’s status.unless of course that kayu president is afraid of looking fugly.earth to moony, TOO LATE.

HUH!!! Yesterday I was shocked when the previous President told me that the club has been suspended!!! What a worst 2007-2009 so called committees. What are they doing? Shaking legs and balls? Spending our money for their own business? Shame on you!!! Betrayed our trust.
Im still remember clearly when I was attended the FSM AGM meeting. Wah….the new committee look so gorgeous (look dumb actually) in front of the members with new resolutions but in their heads actually nothing. No experience in managing society or even themselves!!!
I also still remember about the audit things which they said that they will inform all members once the report is out…but till NOW….no news no nothing- LIAR!
From the time they took over FSM, I only received ONE (1) invitation from them through email to particiapate in MYcatz 2007. After that nothing till todate!! I keep on thinking why was that so? I have paid for 2 years member fee. I stay at the same address, using the same telephone number, using the same email address…but…so then I realised that this commitee is using FSM for their own benefits to gain titles!!!
You supposed to put your head at your knees. Shamed to all of you.. Comments the previous committee not done well, using FSM money- which I believed not) which from the accounts still have RM11K but today….I do not how much left?
If you are good, don’t blamed other people. If you are think that you are so good, teach the previous committees this is the way..but now as an ordinary member, all of the new commitees are SUCK!! Lagi Terok!!
At least the previous committes registered their committees members and accounts to ROS, but what about you all? Till the suspension date also FSM new committe was not registered… MALUNYAAAAAAAA…
Kalau diri tu tak betul jangan nak mengata orang. Sekarang you should be responsibled!!! After 18 years existance without any problem but you and your committees, telah jatuhkan sebuah club. USELESS!!
You the committees supposed to be blamed and to be questioned because organizing unlawfull events and collecting money from members. May be we (as a members) should lodge a police report for this matter!
