KL International Cat Show 2007
This spectacular show is organized by Feline Society of Malaysia (FSM), licensed by The Cat Fancier’s Association (CFA), USA is a 2-ring show.
Our judges are internationally acclaimed with their reputation in judgings with more than 40 years of experience. We are honored to have Ms. Sheila Mizzi from USA and Ms. Cheryl U’ren from Australia. We have in about 100 exhibitors and more than 100 cats contesting for this first cat show of 2007 and besides great response from the locals, we have exhibitors come all the way from Thailand, China, Philippines and Brunei.
Some of the cat breeds that available in this show were Persian, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Abyssinian, European Burmese, Siamese, Oriental, American Shorthair, American Curl, British Shorthair, Exotic and also not forgetting our proud local domestic cats. There will be 4 main categories in this show; Championship Class, Premiership Class, Kitten Class and Household Pet Class.
I was fortunate being appointed as the Assistant Show Manager for this event. If one would wondering where is the Titiwangsa Stadium, just head to the Titiwangsa Lake Cafetaria or the Tennis courts and the Stadium is just right next to it. The venue is a huge place consisting 7 badminton courts and it is air conditioned.
First of all, as Assistant Show Manager and on behalf of the Show Committee for the KL International Cat Show 2007, I would like to extend my gratitude to all participants that had made this show a real success. Congratulations to all winners. To those whose cat did not win, please do not feel down as you have to understand that your cat is already a champion in your heart.
Special thanks to all volunteers (Melissa, Dru, Karlkl, Wawa.junsang & Carnation Gurl) whom had turn up on Saturday to help setting up the show hall although it was raining & jammed but you guys still made it. Thank you again to all volunteers whom had help us during Show Day as well. This show is not just for the exhibitors but also to you volunteers as well whom wanted to learn about CFA type of show. I had personally enjoyed myself starting from being part of this Show Committee, doing clerking for the judge as well as the emcee for the show. I certainly had learned a lot from this show. Seeing it and getting involved is just two different thing.
I was honored to be Ms. Sheila Mizzi’s clerk and I enjoyed her judging. For this round, I had shown my cat, Speedy under Household Pet class. There were 15 cats in this class and I am very proud that Speedy managed to get to the Top-10 in both rings. In Sheila Mizzi’s ring, Speedy got 8th place and Ms. Sheila had commented Speedy on his fur which is very nicely groom whilst in Chery U’ren’s ring, Speedy notched himself at 4th place. Certainly I am very proud of him.

Hold on a sec. Did you just get a new cat? Molly? 8 cats???
Comment by Sharlene — 11 January, 2007 @ 07:15
pak kadok ada kat sana sebab pak kadok pun ada function masa tu. Pak kadok nampak ko asyik dok kat meja depan sebelah judge je. malas lah pak kadok nak panggil. great show!

It took me more than hour to get into Titiwangsa lake with all the road blocks. Luckily, the stadium is air-conditioned. Nice hall layout and the ambience is good and warm. Love the cats as well.

To Sharlene: Yes i did, Sharlene. Molly is my 8th cat n she is a Maine Coon.
To pak kodok: lahhh!! ya ke? tak pasan pun. u shud called me. i can get a time out n take u around for a tour.
To buffy: glad u can make it, buffy. Yeah, it is jammed pack n it took me more than an hour to get out of Lake Titiwangsa at 8pm!!
To laila: The show was great. I was the Asst Show Manager n also the emcee for the event. Great crowd turn out. i had not got the final figure but there were >500 ppl came. The cats were superb.

Wow! Is Molly a pure breed Maine Coon? Cant imagine how you handle 8 cats. I can barely handle 4!
Comment by Sharlene — 17 January, 2007 @ 02:40
To Sharlene: Yes, Molly is a pure breed Maine Coon. well, for me, it is not hard at all. When you see them running around, playing with each other, come to you and rub their faces on your feet or face, u juz can’t resist having them around and always looking forward to get home everyday after work. :p
Comment by Horatio — 17 January, 2007 @ 09:57
and I almost die with only two  but looking forward to add more
( when I think I’m ready to be a responsible owner of 3 cats )
H, the show gives me the idea of what people mean by “busy preparing for cat show”. I can’t imagine how one would be an exhibitor and committee member at the same time to do all the preps. I know you are one of them..so terrer.

H! I saw you sitting beside the judge with another gorgeous looking girl. Kudos and excellent job organizing the show although I was in hope to hear some comments about the cats when the judges judging them but they don’t comment much.
Comment by Shirley C — 18 January, 2007 @ 14:09
H! I could not get into Titiwangsa with all the roads being blocked. Such frustration as I had been looking forward in seeing a cat show held in KL.
Comment by Jane B — 18 January, 2007 @ 15:56
To Marjan: Hi Jeff. die?? i think it is a lil bit over exaggerate isn’t it. As u know me, i m no breeder but i m still able to spend time taking care of my 8 kids. yep, i regard them as my kids.
Well, 1 tip that i learnt when running a show is preparation. If u had done all the preparation early, there wud b virtually no problem on show day. of course, the common problem that we hv is volunteers. That is y u c me playing many roles on that day, fr clerking, emcee, Asst Show Mgr etc. but at the end of the day, I smile to myself that I had done a superb job.
Thanks for the compliment, Jeff. As they say, ‘If there is a will, there’ll b always a way…’
To Shirley C: That gorgeous looking girl is Nadia and she came all the way from Singapore to observe me doing clerking. Thanks for the compliment about the show.
Comments by judges r up to individuals but usually they would give comments during Top 10s.
To Jane B: sorry to hear abt that. Hope to see u in the next show.
