Kuching 3rd International Cat Show
The President of Sarawak Cat Club, Dr. Huey Lee whom is also a friend of mine had rang me up and asked me whether I would be interested in lending a hand in their 3rd International Cat Show which was held last weekend (2nd & 3rd Dec) and I straight away answered yes. I am always looking forward to visit Kuching because of it’s calm and serene city. Kuching residents are very warm, kind and helpful. To add to my excitement, the International judge for this time will be Mrs. Lesley Morgan-Blythe whom I had wrote an article about her in my blog (Refer here). This would be my 3rd meeting with Mrs. Morgan-Blythe. The 3rd International cat show had not just attracted local exhibitors but also exhibitors coming as far as from the West Malaysia and Brunei as well.
After touching down at the Kuching International Airport on Saturday, I was picked-up by the Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) personnel and was sent to Dewan Suarah, Kuching Civic Centre which is about 20mins away from the airport. There, I finally met Mrs. Morgan-Blythe and Dr. Huey. The highlights on the 1st day of show were:
1. Arrivals, welcoming speeches and the official launching by VIPs
2. Kuching Cat Show performance by the Kuching Cat Group
3. Cat Exhibition (some pedigree cats)
4. Cat Poster Coloring competition
5. Non-Pedigree cats Judgings (98 cats)
On the 2nd day, the highlights were:
1. Cat Fancy Dress competition
2. Guess-the-cat-weight competition
3. Cage Decoration Contest
4. Know-the-Cat Race
5. Pedigree cats Judging (32 cats)
6. Award Presentation to the Winners (Non-Pedigree and Pedigree) by VIP

One of the activity during this cat show was the Know-the-Cat Race was actually my idea and I had adapted the same format as the popular reality series, The Amazing Race. There will be 3 teams of 2 consisting an adult and a child and they need to solve 5 clues related to cats and the show itself. The fastest team to reach the finish line will be declared as winner.

Overall, the Kuching 3rd International Show was a successful show thanks to many parties who had involved. It is certainly a memorable cat show and I wish all the best to Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) and Sarawak Cat Club in their future plans of cat shows and may the next event will attract more exhibitors from other countries. I would like to extend my greatest gratitude to the Sarawak Cat Club President, Dr. Huey Lee, Encik Bakthtiar Hj Affendi and Encik Buang from the Kuching North City Hall and the rest of the team for this Kuching 3rd International Show for their hospitality and making my stay in Kuching a comfortable and memorable.
