Speedy’s 1st CFA Show
This is my second time as FSM-CFA exhibitor and I took this oppurtunity to enrol my mix-Persian, Speedy for this show. I had ‘pumped’ Speedy so that he’ll be gaining some weight but he gained approximately 200gm (4.9kg now). Since Speedy a fussy eater and he does not eat much in 1 go, I had to resort feeding him 3-4 times a day by adding nutrition supplements such as ginseng in powder form (for pets), Nutrical (his favorite) and Brewer Yeast. Grooming him is also another challenge since Speedy had long and ‘cottonish’ fur and blow dry him needs hell lots of patience and time. Getting Speedy to sit on the grooming table is no easy task since he don’t usually sit long at 1 spot for long. Therefore, a lot of short breaks (and Nutrical) are needed to get him 100% dry.
Here he is in the 4 days 3 nights in Melaka:

Above: Nope!! This is not Speedy. This is Speedy’s roomate, FullMetal. He is a Maine Coon and he had been ‘harrassing’ Speedy knowing Speedy is a newbie. Behind FullMetal is another Maine Coon called Chiu Kuan and mind you, that is my bed!!

Above: This is Speedy, the moment I had opened his carrier. Since he had been…. ‘prospered’ for the past month, he could not get his entire body into the side cabinet.

Above: Anyway, it does not took Speedy hiding for long since I had prepared his favourite meal, Frisian Tuna with Shrimp and after he had finished his asumptious meal, he walked around checking his other roomates and explore the entire room.

Above: OK. 1st day of show day. Here he is standing proud and anxiously waiting for his turn to be judged.

Above: Here is Speedy with Judge Ayumi Ueda. Speedy got 6th place under her judging.

Above: Here is Speedy with Judge Allan Raymond. Speedy also got 6th place under his judging.

Above: Here is Speedy with Judge Yukiko Hayata. Speedy got 9th place under her judging.

Above: Here is Speedy with Judge Jan Rogers. Speedy got 2nd under her judging.

Above: Here am I, been called upon by Jan Rogers (and so is the other cat owners under the Household Pets) to share stories about the cat.
\
Above: Here is Speedy with his winning rossettes. He is kinda exhausted after came home from Melaka and he eventually slept the whole day. Anyway, I am so proud of him, whether he wins or not.

Speedy looks handsome. Well done on your grooming efforts and congratulations as well

The maince coon, Fullmetal is a very nice cat. I had seen his species in Kuching show. I wish I can own one.

To Jane B: Thanks gal for the compliment.
To Shirley C: Don’t worry. I have the fur-remover device in hand n so u can hug Tiger all u want.
To laila: Yes, Speedy do have Chincilla gene in him.
To Joshua Bingat: Yes, Maine Coon is a gentle cat and don’t let it’s size fooled you of it being aggressive. Of course you can own one. If you want, I can recommend to a breeder to u. Juz let me know.

Wow! Speedy has such long straight fur under his head. Is that natural or is a result from grooming. He looks absolutely amazing!

The fur on Speed’s neck is so straight! Is that as a result of grooming or natural?

Hi Laura,
Thank you for visiting my blog. It is certainly great to hear a compliment from a Persian breeder. It took me about close to 3 hours to perform show groom on my Speedy and I am really satisfied with the result (although he is only a HHP)

Well, I understand about the 3 hour grooming routine- on some of my cat’s I can spend almost that long just in the drying part. I would have never known he was a an HHP. He’s groomed like a professional- do you plan to keep him out and seek some awards for Speedy? Hope so!
PS- if you are interested in any grooming tips- just ask- I’ll be glad to help you…even though I can tell, you really don’t need any:-) Laura of Purrinlot Http://www.purrinlot.com and of Castle Baths http://www.castlebaths.com/pets.htm

Speedy is indeed competing in HHP. He is a Persian mix although some said he does resemble as a Traditional Chincilla. He even had that dark ring around his eyes.
I am honoured that you are willing to teach me on grooming tips. Will write to u if I have any questions.
